The idea behind the HDR2 hard-disk recorder is to offer an attractive modular solution complementing Bang & Olufsen's televisions by adding extra functionality and ease of use via one remote control.

"Our modern lifestyle and hectic daily lives often leave us with the feeling that everyone but you is in control of your life. Finding time for favourite programs and updating oneself on issues of personal interest via television programs can be difficult. With HDR2 you regain control of your time and can watch television when you choose. With its larger size 250 GB hard disk and the option of 'once only' or weekly timer recordings, you can ensure you never miss your favourite program or series. HDR2 offers full system integration and the ability to record from all available video sources whether they are analogue or digital, terrestrial, satellite or cable.

Being an intelligent hard disc recorder, HDR2 always finds space for all your new recordings by overwriting the oldest viewed content if there is insufficient space available to make the recording. If you wish to retain a program you can easily protect recordings from being deleted. In addition you can use the parental control function to restrict viewing access.

Editing and reviewing recordings has never been easier than with HDR2. For easy categorisation of content, recorded programs can be placed in up to 8 different groups which can be named and renamed according to personal taste. It is possible to ‘trim’ recordings by erasing irrelevant information at the beginning and end of a defined recording, such as adverts. In addition the new ‘split’ function ensures that longer recordings, perhaps including several different television programs, can be divided into individual segments for easier viewing and storage."

HDR2 follows a new design concept for Bang & Olufsen's modular solutions. With its brushed natural aluminium surface and similar dimensions as BeoSystem 3 ((WxDxH) 470mm x 263mm x 106mm), the company has taken first steps in a new design family; a unique visual identity representing timeless design that complements present and future generations of Bang & Olufsen televisions.

HDR2 replaces HDR1.
